Managing Change Effectively

Managing Change Effectively

Most people get an emotional reaction to change, rather than a logical, objective response...

Often managers think the best way to present a change is to prepare well with clear, logical arguments (plus lots of carefully prepared powerpoint slides!). This approach is useless if the manager doesn't help people to manage their emotional response first. When we are emotional, everything becomes black and white, so however logical the change may be, people will not get it. So, next time you introduce change, why not spend time asking people how they are feeling, rather than launch into your safety zone and bombard people with lots of information?
