Manage from the head, lead from the heart

Manage from the head, lead from the heart

A much debated question is what makes the difference between a manager and a leader.

As we see it, good managers need intellect or so called traditional intelligence. A certain amount of IQ, subject specific knowledge and understanding of management systems can produce a good manager. Great leadership taps into a whole different part of the brain - the emotional part. Being emotionally intelligent is essential in successful leadership - having high self regard and awareness and managing your behaviour effectively as well as having high regard for and awareness of others and developing good relationships based on trust and authenticity. There are many good managers in this world, but very few great leaders. So, can great leadership be taught? Absolutely - great leadership runs hand in hand with high levels of emotional intelligence and every single one of us has the ability to develop our emotional intelligence. So it is time to release the great leader inside of you?
